Fabric Motif: The forest poppy grows in the mountain forests. There is a legend that mother swallows would wash the eyes of their chicks with the sap of the forest poppies.

About the Work: “I was really taken with the way the centers of the flowers were brushed and formed. The leaves were full and rounded and had and interesting center strip.
I decided to start with the center of one of the flowers and see where it would go. I added some fantasy sparkles and color with the stones and just let it form itself.
The leaves I just started forming over various tools, added stones and gold and voila!
I pierced, formed, filed, soldered, set stones, planished and added patina.”
Marcia Geving Bio: I knew when I was in the 1st grade that art was my thing. Whether I was decorating a cake, making an outfit, creating a corporate package for a new business or remodeling a house, my art and and creativity would take me through it.
When I was in high school I met a teacher that taught jewelry. She was wearing a brooch of pearls on silver wires wrapped in a silver ribbon. I knew then that I wanted to make jewelry too. I graduated from the UW with a degree in Education, a minor in metal and a minor in textile design and I am a K-12 art specialist. I graduated at a time when there was a surplus of teachers so after a while I decided to move on and try some other interests. All the things I did contributed to my art skills but nothing hit the spot until I started honing my metal skills again. So here I am now, making metal move and feeding my soul…..It’s all good!
