Origin of featured materials: Shining Wave Metals / Phillip Baldwin
Story behind the piece: I made these earrings to match my Mokume-gane pendant, leaving the Mokume-gane pristine to let it speak for itself and shine without interference. A little sparkle on the hammered rim seemed like a nice complement here too. The Mokume-gane is patinated to accentuate the wood grain pattern in the earrings as well. Clean and simple for everyday wear.
Artist Bio: I am originally from Sweden. My pieces clearly have elements of Swedish design, clean and simple without too much fuss. I love to work silver and create pieces of jewelry. I started making jewelry when I lived in Italy for a few years, a long time ago now. In Italy I learned to work silver and gold the old-fashioned way, making everything by hand and that is how I work today as well. Still loving it!
This piece is part of, From Wave to Shining Wave: a Celebration of Phil Baldwin and Shining Wave Metals Baldwin. The exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Seattle Metals Guild. 5% of sales will be donated to help fund an endowment at Pendland in Phillip Baldwin’s name. Learn more HERE.
